Psychiatry of Rural Community Attributes on the Success of Extension Services Delivery in on-Farm Textile Innovations, Ondo State of Nigeria (Published)

The study aimed at establishing rural community attributes influence on the success of extension services delivery in on-farm textile innovation in Ondo State of Nigeria. Mainly, it examined the community socio-cultural characteristics, and analysed eco-institutional variables influencing the success of extension delivery. Purposive sampling procedure was used in selecting 50 percent of the Local Government Areas (blocks) from each of the two zones and, 25 percent of group of villages from each visited blocks in the State. A simple random sampling technique was employed in selecting ten percent of members in each of the on-farm textile stratum within each group of villages and 612 respondents were selected for the study. Structured and pre-tested validated interview schedule and questionnaire were used in collecting information from the respondents.  The data were interpreted using descriptive analysis and correlation analysis in viewing relationship between success and community attributes. The study highlighted the level of success in extension services delivery of on-farm textile innovation as low. The ecological climate of the studied community favoured packages of the introduced innovations but, there was no accessible market for its produces.  At p<0.01 and p < 0.05 the following community variables showed significant relationship with success viz: spatial system(r = -0.393**), prevailing age group(r = -0.557**), and tradition(r = -0.403*).  It is suggested that, the proscribed marketing board for on- farm textile produces be resuscitated and annex of the market mechanism be stationed very close to the studied area.

University Library Services and Academic Success of Students: A Case Study of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria (Published)

This research is a venture into a study of the impact of some selected library services on the academic success of students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria with a view to establish if there exists any relationship between specific library services and academic performance of students. A test-retest reliability method of two weeks interval was conducted. Responses obtained were subjected to Pearson Products Moment Correlation (PPMC) method and a reliability coefficient of 0.83 was obtained. Multistage sampling technique was employed. 1656 respondents were selected for the study, with 89% response rate. Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed in the study. The study found that the significant mean score of Internet services (3.33), Selective dissemination of Information SDI(2.93), and circulation services(2.97) were above average (2.5) with reference services(2.46) alone being below average. However, only Internet Services(R=0.880 p-value=0.049<0.05) was found to correlate significantly with the student academic performance. The most utilized services at FUTO library are the internet services, seconded by Book Loan services. It was recommended that more effort should be put to ensure the sustenance of internet and circulation services as they help students achieve higher test scores.

FACTORS DETERMINING FIRMS’ STRATEGY OF INTERNATIONALIZATION: A CASE STUDY ON POLAND (Published)

The purpose of this paper is to examine the determinants of an internationalization strategy and its impact on success and business performance. To achieve this objective, data were collected through surveys using a structured questionnaire administered to 385 Polish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are involved in launching and developing their products in international markets. A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to examine the reliability and validity of the measurement model, and the structural equation modeling technique was used to test the research model. The results of the study confirm that internationalization strategies of Polish SMEs are influenced by six factors that are: managerial expertise, dynamic capabilities, risk aversion, alliance capabilities, foreign market orientation and markets knowledge

ENTREPRENEURSHIP: FUNDING AND FINANCING STRATEGIES IN NIGERIA (Published)

The contribution of entrepreneurship in the economic development cannot be over-emphasized nor should be underestimated for any reason as this is already a known fact that it plays a prominent role as a change agent and as a prime mover of economy. In developed, developing or underdeveloped economy, the essence of entrepreneurship is highly significant as this exist in both private and public sectors of any economy. The roles of enterpreurship are worldly acclaimed but yet as laudable as these roles there can be no significant success by any entrepreneur except with availability of finance. Nevertheless, mere availability of finance also cannot guarantee the success of an enterprise but there must be in place appropriate financial strategies for the funding/investment needs of an enterprise. Using secondary data, this paper examine various options of funding/financial entrepreneurs today. It establishes financing alternatives that are best suited to financing needs of small scale enterprises which is clearly differ to that of large scale enterprises.
