Differences in Students’ Behavior and Attitude regarding Study at Home and Library in Focus Private Library at Wad Medani 2019 (Published)
Background: library is a curated collection of sources of information and similar resources, selected by experts and made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing, often in a quiet environment conducive to study. Greatest benefit for many is having fewer distractions. At home one might have to contend with roommates, pets, and other temptations. In addition to fewer of these distractions, the library can provide you with a wealth of educational resources that can aid you in your studies. Objectives: This study is aim to compare studying in library and at home in different aspects. Methods: This is cross sectional descriptive community base study. Results: Total number of students were 150, estimation number of hours when students study in library were: 7.3% of students study more than 10 hours, 53.3% of students study 5-10 hours, 35.3% study 2-5 hours and 4% of students study less than 2 hours. Estimation number of hours when students study at home were 3.3% of students study more than 10 hours, 12.7% of students study 5-10 hours, 44.7% of students study 2-5 hours and 39.3% of students study less than 2 hours. This study found out 93.3% of student prefer study at library while 6.7% of students prefer study at home .Conclusion: This study conclude that the Liberary is the suitable and preferable place for studing in majority of participants, and the maximal hours spend on studing are found to be in people studing in liberary.
The purpose of this correlational study was to investigate the relationship between various possible components of L2 skill GPA. In theoretical terms, the objective of the study was on examining the explanatory power of the g factor of general intelligence versus multiple intelligences theory through a correlation of five aspects of L2 competence with GPA among a sample of 94 Kuwaiti students of English as an L2. The study was guided by five research questions: (1) Is there a statistically significant effect of intelligence on GPA? (2) Is there a statistically significant effect of aptitude on GPA? (3) Is there a statistically significant effect of personality on GPA? (4) Is there a statistically significant effect of motivation and attitude on GPA? (5) Is there a statistically significant effect of beliefs on GPA? Utilizing an odds ratio approach in which the comparison groups were (a) students who failed and students who did not fail, (b) students who excelled and students who did not excel, and (c) students who achieved at least average performance and students who did not achieve at least average performance, no statistically significant relationships were found between GPA and any of these predictors. The results were discussed in terms of their support for multiple intelligences theory, and some recommendations for future research were made
Sustainable development and good living condition in the modern world are determined by people who possess more than normal reasoning abilities. The present Nigerian socio-political, economic and technological dilemma therefore results from the redundancy of mind paved by gross deficiency in logic and critical thinking competencies. This deficiency broadly stems from Nigerian poor educational system which has neglected acquisition of reflective and critical reasoning skills in theoretical and practical terms. This hampers critical competence, and results to irrational judgments, biased policies and dishonest governance. Consequently, problem solving and critical competence in various sectors of Nigerian existence have remained a mirage resulting to unsustainable development. This paper analytically investigates the meaning, cradle, essence, relevance and state of logic and critical thinking in Nigerian higher education and existence. The research finds that logic and critical thinking has been negligently relegated to one of those optional General Studies’ courses rarely needed to make up the required credit load. As such, not every department of education in Nigeria offers logic and critical thinking. This is coupled with the fact that in some Nigerian Higher Institutions, logic and critical thinking is managed by unqualified staff. The paper as well finds that knowledge of logic and critical thinking is indispensable in the daily human expressions, decisions, right choices and actions. For deficiency in reasoning skills paves way for errors, deceptions, violence and false democracy. The paper concludes that for Nigeria to initiate and sustain true democracy and development, logic and critical thinking should be centrally paramount in her education system because of its quality of impacting critical reasoning skills and competency in the students and citizenry.

In the same vein, Mariama Ba ‘s So Long a Letter has been lexically and semantically presented, to reflect or imitate the realities of life. Therefore this study attempts a lexico-semantic study of Mariama Ba’s So Long a Letter in order to reveal the author’s creative deployment of language to achieve her purpose in the text. In other words, the study examines how the author uses words to expose the ills of African society through the use of figures of speech, lexical relations and sense relation among others in the text, to develop the themes of political exclusion, evils of polygamy, sadness and loneliness, socio-economic degradation, betrayal, immorality, among others
