The Origin of Leisure and Recreation Activities in Parks: Implications on Human Health (Published)

This study focuses on the origin of leisure and its significance on human body, the method employed to carry out the study is mainly derived from both primary and secondary methods of data collections. Interviews were made with some practicing doctors and information was collected from relevant heath journals and text books. The study gathered showed that: Leisure and Recreation are as old as the existence of human beings It was practiced during the Stone Age. Anthropologists and archaeology confirmed it from researches made and that the early people had the same instincts as we do to enjoy ourselves Before the Stone Age, the story of creation showed that leisure and recreation started when the World started right from Adam and Eve in the Garden of Aden. It was also commanded to the Israelites to rest after working activities in the week. The implications must have been known by God. Recent studies show that resting and recreation activities have social and physiological impacts on human system.

Environmental Management and Recreational Facilities Usage: A Study of Kainji Lake National Park (Published)

Assessment of Environmental and Recreation Facility Maintenance was carried out in Kainji Lake National Park. Questionnaire method of data collection was employed to collect the data needed. Purposive and simple random techniques were adopted to sample respondents in the study area. One hundred questionnaires were designed and administered. The data collected were analyzed through simple percentage and presented in table and charts. However, the results showed that recreation facilities are 99% present, while swimming pool is 65% functional. The study showed that visitors came there three times in a week indicating 44% of the respondents while on maintenance of the park environment and the facilities indicated 94% and 88% of the respondents respectively. The study further recommended the followings facilities basketball pitch. Hockey game, volley ball and well-constructed swimming pool.

RECREATIONAL EDUCATION IN ISLAM (Review Completed - Accepted)

This study is a primary attempt to depict the concept of recreational education in Islam along with its forms and principles.The study relied on descriptive and analytical methods to present the concept of recreational education, its constraints, objectives, divisions, and applications from an Islamic perspective.

The study concludes to confirm that Islam preceded all human theories and philosophies in rooting the recreational education in theory and practice, and in attracting attention to the need to develop and deploy the concepts of recreational education and its applications by the institutions concerned

ECOLOGICAL COMPARISON OF THE TOURISM RESORT OF WENGEN (SWITZERLAND) AND OBUDU (NIGERIA) (Published)

Both Wengen and Obudu Resorts are blossoming areas in tourism, and also share similar characteristics of togogeaphy and climate. A comparism of the ecological interactions between the two resorts will bring out the potentials and problems of each resort; which is useful in recommending sustainable practices to strengthen the resorts. Fields studies were carried out in both resorts on the Soils, Flora, Fauna and Human activities of land use, population and recreation. While the results of Wengen resort indicated a cautious use of the natural resources of soil, vegetation and wildlife, the Obudu Resort on the other’ hand records a negative trend in the exploitation of some resources. However, the study parameters of human population and land use were more favourable in Obudu with a population negative rate of 3.1 per annum against the growth rate of -2.6 in wengen resort. Similarly the land use in Obudu fall within the ratio of 3:1:2 for recreational, residential and agricultural respectively, as against 5:0:2 in Wengen resort. The study came out with recommendations for sustainable development of the two resorts
