Design and Development of Software Package for the Evaluation of Water Vapour Concentration (Published)

A computer software package was designed and developed to evaluate water vapor concentration in the lower atmosphere using Visual basic programming. The package was developed for Garcia Muller model. The water vapor concentration absorbs long wave terrestrial’s radiation and insulating energy transfer through the atmosphere. The performance of the package was excellent when used to evaluate upper air data for Lagos station (Lat 60 32’ E, Longitude 30. 28’ E), Kano station (Lat 120 00N, long 80 31’E), Minana station (Lat 90 39’ N, Long 60, 32’ E) and Maiduguri station (Lat 110 53’ N, Long 130 16’ E). The size of the package is 1.08KB. The results obtained were compared with results gotten from other location and was found to be in agreement. This package will save researchers much time since it can evalvate as many data.

Growth and Nutritional Qualities of Three Ocimum Species As Affected By Methods of Propagation (Published)

Ocimum species are well known for their medicinal values and this have caused increase in their demand by individual and many pharmaceutical industries. In order to meet the demand for this plant species three different Ocimum species (Ocimum basilicum, Ocimum gratissimum and Ocimum americanum) were propagated by different methods (stem cutting and seed) and were evaluated for their morphometric characters after 6 six and eight weeks. The chlorophyll content, proximate composition and phytochemicals content of the plants were also determined. The result obtained showed that Ocimum species propagated through stem performed better than the seeds. The results also revealed that there were strong correlation between the plants height and other morphometric characters. Also, the Ocimum species propagated by seed contained more phytochemicals than those propagated by stem. However, O. gratissimum propagated by stem cutting appeared to perform better than the other two Ocimum species in term of plant height, leaf number, stem girth and number of branches.

Appraising Constitutionalism and Good Governance in Africa (Published)

This work interrogates constitutionalism and good governance in Africa. Constitutionalism is a form of political thought and action that seeks to prevent tyranny and guarantees the liberty and rights of individuals within the state. It is also an essential tool to achieve public accountability, the end of which is good governance. While good governance entails efficient and effective use of power and resources. In this paper, the researcher studies the governance in Africa with the hope of finding out whether the system feet in with what is call good governance as it is been champion all over the world. In the course of this research we discovered that a lot of hindrances are on the African way to the realization of good governance, colonialist and African leaders bear the blame. The work concluded that; since colonialist are at the fore front of propagation for good governance, it is very important for them to correct the wrong of the past and where they are still serving as hindrances; they should endeavour to make an amendment for the good of mankind. And at the same time the Africa leaders should be ready to learn from the past and make necessary amendment so that Africa can move forward.
