Improving Students’ Listening Skill and Vocabulary Masteryn through Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) By Using Online Learning for Senior High School (Published)
The aims of this research is to describe the process of improving the students’ listening skill and vocabulary mastery through contextual teaching and learning (CTL) by using online learning at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Sajira. This study also attempts to find out the improvement of the students’ skill in listening and vocabulary mastery through contextual teaching and learning (CTL) by using online learning. The method used in this research was qualitative research method by implementing classroom action research (CAR). This research was conducted in three cycles actions in cycle I, cycle 2 and cycle 3. The result of the research is the use of contextual teaching and learning (CTL) by using online learning can improve the students’ listening skill and vocabulary mastery. The finding of the research were: (1) the process of teaching and learning using CTL through online learning was conducted successfully in terms of the feeling of happiness and enthusiasm of the students, (2) there was an improvement of the students’ listening skill from the increased mean of score from 57,85 in pre-test became 81,11 in post-test. This study suggests that the English teacher may improve her teaching strategy by optimizing the use of materials at school; the teacher should be creative in selecting, developing and giving materials at class.
Improving Teaching of Christian Moral Education in Secondary Schools in South East Geo-Political Zone of Nigeria through Commitment in Teachers’ Behaviour (Published)
Nigerian society exhibits symptoms of serious moral decay. There is consequently widespread concern about the moral predicament in the nation. This paper is an attempt to investigate how commitment in teachers’ behaviour could improve the teaching of Christian moral education in secondary schools in the southeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Two research questions guided the study. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. South-east geopolitical zone is the area of study and the population comprised of all the Christian Moral Education teachers in the states that make up the zone. 300 teachers were selected out of 967 Christian Moral Education teachers in the area using purpose sampling technique. Fixed response questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Mean was used to analyze data. Result show-cased that the teaching of Christian Moral Education could be improved through commitment in teachers’ behaviour. Based on the findings, the study stresses that a greater percentage of the work of improving the teaching of Christian moral education lies in the hands of the teachers as commitments in teachers’ behaviour becomes a necessity of immediacy and paramount. This however forms the contribution of the study.
Teachers Perception on Ways of Improving the Teaching of Social Studies in Onueke Education Zone (Published)
This study investigated Teachers perception on ways of improving the teaching of Social Studies in Onueke Education Zone. The purpose of the study was to specifically ascertain teaching techniques that could improve the teaching of Social Studies in Onueke Education Zone, find out if some evaluation techniques could improve the teaching of Social Studies. The design of the study was a descriptive survey research. The population of the study comprised 100 Social Studies teachers in Onueke Education Zone. Two research questions and two hypotheses were designed and tested to guide the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled “teachers perception on ways of improving the teaching of Social Studies (TPWITSS) in Onueke Education Zone. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and chi-square (X2). Findings from the investigation revealed that respondents accepted all items on the questionnaire significantly improve the teaching of Social Studies, evaluation techniques significantly improve the teaching of Social Studies.
A VALID AND RELIABLE EGYPTIAN INSTRUMENT FOR IDENTIFYING BARRIERS INFLUENCING MANAGING AND IMPROVING QUALITY IN NURSING SERVICE (Published)
This paper focuses on the improvement of Oral Communication Skills (OCSs) of Pakistan’s Public school’s Grade-6 students who have a lack of opportunities and are seldom exposed to the English language generally and OCSs particularly. Since more importance is given to reading and writing skills of English in which results overlook the importance of OCSs and due to which students are found to be silent, shy or have a profound fear of being wrong. It further highlights self developed strategies of students in improving accuracy and fluency in which the National Curriculum for English Language (NCEL) was taken as a guiding tool and action planner through which systematic lessons were delivered in classrooms. Findings of Pre and post intervention phases of four participants revealed that children’s OCSs had shown a marked improvement by giving opportunities to practice oral languages, providing conducive learning environment and using new teaching strategies. This study also claims that code switching, Peer and self error correction, short pauses and speech fillers are inevitable to improve speaking skills in the process of second language learning. It shows new ways in order to improve students’ speaking skills and has implications for second language learners and teachers.
