Workers Education: A Panacea for Manpower Development in Nigeria (Published)

As manpower development is germane to the effectiveness and profitability of an organisation, so is workers education crucial to educative activities for human resources development of the labour force.This paper examines the benefits and potentials of workers education in developing the manpower capacity and capabilities of labour force for national development. Based on the premise that the Nigeria government has not been able to fulfilher obligations through annual budgetary allocation to education, it is needful for stakeholders in the sector to revamp the human resources depreciation especially in the nation’s work force. It is therefore recommended that workers education should be recurrent and holistic exercise both in the private and public work sector for progressive, upgrading of skills and knowledge to increase organisations potentials to efficiently achieve their goals.

APPRAISAL OF PETROLEUM TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT FUND (PTDF) MANDATES ON HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA; BENEFITS FOR NIGERIAN YOUTHS (Published)

The need for Human Resources Development vis-a-vis Career Development (CD), Training and Development (TD) and Organization Development (OD) is constantly increasing with intense rapidity across the globe. Today, Nigerian government agencies, organizations, and NGOs invest in developing human capacity to meet up with global challenges. This paper discusses the roles of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in the development of human resources for Nigeria. It examines its progress and success in partnering with the local and international organizations/institutions in training Nigerian youths to fill the gaps in Nigeria oil and gas industries. Using secondary information with discourse analysis of existing literatures on the subject matter, the study revealed that there is a level of consistency in the various PTDF programmes and continuity in the change of leadership which have resulted in training and empowering thousands of Nigerian youths in universities and though other non-formal education at home and in Diaspora since its establishment in 1973. However, certain criticisms were observed against the Fund which requires urgent attention for amelioration. The study recommends, among others, adequate awareness of programmes and more government supports on human resources development programmes of PTDF especially its appreciation and benefit for indigenous Nigerian youths

Human Resource Planning and Employee productivity in Nigeria Public Organization (Published)

Productivity in the Nigerian public organizations have suffered serious decline as researches have shown that productivity has not really improved even with the enormous human resources at their disposition hence the assertion that the importance of human resources cannot be relegated to the background as organizations’ greatest asset is a well-planned and managed human resources implies that adequate plan must be put in place for those resources to engender productivity vis-à-vis the effective management of the workforce. This general dissatisfaction has put human resource planning out as the solution to the issue of employee’s unproductivity in the Nigerian public organizations. Addressing this issue is the thrust of this paper as it investigates the role of Human Resources Planning (HRP) in ensuring employee productivity in the Nigeria Public Organizations.
