The Image of the Jew in the Saudi Novel (Published)
The character of the Jew in literature is character that motivates the Arab reader most because it evokes a long history of conflicts between the Arabs and Jews. This study found that the texts of the Saudi novel that tried to employ the character of the Jew are few and limited and there causes for this which the study deals in detail. The study traces the texts of the Saudi novel in which the character of the Jew appears and introduces. The study tries to give answers to questions that represent the objectives and requirements of its goals. These questions are: How does the character of the Jew appear in the novels? What are its most obvious dimensions? From which perspectives is the character introduced? What is the vision that the Saudi novel introduces regarding the character of the Jew? To give answers to these questions, the study discusses the works of the following Saudi writers: Zainab Hanafi, Turki Alhamad, Omaima Khamis, Abdullah Sa’d, Ghazi al-Qussaibi, Abd al-Wahhab Al Mar’ie, Muhammad Abdo Yamani, Khoqir Issam, Abu Aqil al-Zahiri. The study employs the element of narratology, mainly its semantic aspect. It also relies on certain tools of the psychological methodology.
The Development of Character Based on Teaching Materials According to the Learning Design Experts Through a Contextual Approach at Grade V in Sd Negeri 060841 Medan City, Indonesia (Published)
The development of character education through learning materials is understood as the integration of messages and tools, as a vehicle of culture and individual empowerment. Therefore, it needs to be compiled teaching materials based on character education. Character-based teaching materials are instructional materials which are designed to allow the content or the learning activities to facilitate or educate characters through the insertion of character values. The character-based Civics learning materials through the contextual approach which are resulted in this development research are valid in terms of content and constructs. This can be seen based on the results of experts’ validation and practitioners on the developed teaching materials with valid categories. This result provides an illustration that the developed teaching materials can be used in learning Civics in grade V in SD Negeri 060841 Medan City. Character-based Civics teaching materials through the contextual approach generated in this development study have been declared effective for improving Civic learning skills and developing student character.
This study deals with the roles of Islamic education againts the development of Islamic art and culture. In order to achive the objective of the study, library research method was used and all the data taken from the books, journals, articles, and previous research. After analyzing and describing the discussion in details, the finding showed that the roles of Islamic education towards Islamic art and culture development are; firstly, Islamic art and culture is regarded as the process of awareness that Islamic art and culture are values sources such as; mind, kindness, creativity, and artwork. Secondly, Islamic art and culture is knwon as process of humanity and humanism. Thirdly, Islamic art and culture is regarded as the spirit of struggle and renewal agiants Islam. The students are expcted to have both intelligent and spiritual competency through art and culture found in Al-Qur’an and Sunnah. Islamic education and culture always come together to establish the human beings’ civilization.
CHARACTER EDUCATION MODEL IN MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES LEARNING AT MUHAMMADIYAH JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (Published)
This study aims to describe the practicality and effectiveness of character education models integrated in the learning of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is based on broad-scale trials were conducted at Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Malang City. Type of research is class action research-based lesson study with full reference to the Susilo (2009). This study was conducted in two cycles, refers to the Spiral Model of Kemmis & Taggart (1988) and Lesson Study which refers to Lewis (2002). The results of an analysis of the feasibility study observation sheet and teacher responses indicate that the model developed is included in the category of practical on the cycle I and is very practical in the cycle II. This model is practical for several reasons, namely 1) the development of models adopt a pattern that has been set by the government, was developed based on the conditions and be flexible, 2) the model allows teachers to implement and adapt to the conditions of the school or class being taught, 3) model has been developed passed the stage of planning, implementation, and evaluation involving teachers through the process of discussion and trial and supported by the feel of lesson study. The effectiveness of the model is included in the category of less or low in Cycle I and quite good in Cycle II. The values of the characters are already being integrated in the learning of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Although the values of the characters that appear only include medium category, but gently push the teacher models for students’ attention to aspects of the character
