This work looked at the availability of educational resources for quality assurance in secondary schools. Educational resource is seen as the physical, material, human and financial inputs in the teaching-learning process. Quality is viewed as an accepted standard measure by which product are judge as fine enough for consumption. Quality assurance is termed as the processes and actions through which the quality of secondary education is maintained and developed. The work also examined the need for quality assurance in secondary schools, strategies for establishing quality assurance in education, quality assurance measures put in place to guarantee finesse of product, availability of facilities, instructional materials, human resources and financial resources that brings about quality assurance in secondary schools. The work revealed that physical facilities, teaching and non-teaching staff as well as instructional materials were highly insufficient. The study further revealed that annual subvention to schools was less than the amount required for the administration of the schools. Based on these findings, the work concluded that quality assurance in secondary schools is crippled by insufficient educational resources. Therefore, the work suggested among others that; government should increase the annual subventions to schools, parent teachers’ association and old students’ association should also be involved in the funding and maintenance of the school facilities, the ministry of education should have a unit whose duty is to monitor the funds available to avoid misappropriation.
This paper examines the basis for quality assurance of secondary education in Nigeria. In fact, Nigeria is populous in Africa, but the problem of quality secondary education confronting standard of education in Nigeria. It was discovered that the products were poor quality, the poor quality was however, as a result of the multifaceted problems bedeviling the system in Nigeria such as inadequate funding, inadequate facilities, low morale of teachers, poor supervision of schools and frequent changes in educational policies. The roles of the principal in meeting these challenges were examined as the chief executive who manages the school finance and who can use his ingenuity to raise fund to complement government efforts, provision and maintenance of physical facilities, principal as a curriculum and instruction supervision, a motivator and a change facilitator. It was there recommended that modern day principal should be knowledgeable, professionally competent and resourceful. It was again recommended that government should make provision for sponsoring principals and organizing conferences for them to serve as a means for professional growth.
Quality Assurance of Teachers in the Assessment of Social Studies Curriculum of Secondary Schools in Abeokuta Metropolis in Ogun State, Nigeria (Published)
The study was carried out to ensure the quality assurance of teachers in the assessment of the Social Studies curriculum in Secondary Schools in Abeokuta Metropolis of Ogun State, Nigeria. Two research questions were formulated and answered in this study. Survey research and evaluation designs were involved. The sample for the study was 57. A 20 cluster item questionnaires and 35 multiple choice test items were developed and used to collect data. The data collected were analyzed using percentages, means and performance gap analysis to answer the research question. Conclusively, the importance of assessment of secondary school social studies curriculum can not be over emphasized because it is a well established fact that the status and kind of assessment used in appraising phenomenon for reaching implication not only for students’ achievements, but also for the nature of school procedure in an institutions. Based on the result of the study, it was recommended among other things that, teachers should be sponsored by the government to attend seminars, workshops and conferences to update themselves in order to improve the quality of their teaching skills
The main aim of this study is to examine the effect of service quality dimensions on customer loyalty to the providers of retail banking services. It investigates the relationship between service quality dimensions and customer loyalty. To achieve this purpose, data was collected from a sample of 384 current customers of commercial banks on the five dimensions of service delivery: tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. The results indicate that all the dimensions of service quality have a positive and significant influence on customer loyalty in retail banking .This finding reinforces the need for bank managers to place an emphasis on the underlying dimensions of service quality in order to create and maintain customer loyalty
