NEW BLENDS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

The aim of this article is to identify new blends that have entered the English language. As one of the word-formation processes: compounding, clipping, backformation, acronym, derivation, clipping, conversion, coinage, and multiple processes, the new blends, being the focus of this research, will be analyzed. The descriptive approach, used in this article, is based on the division of the new blends and their structures in English. The blends are also investigated according to the domains they occur in English. The results obtained from this research suggest that most of the blends are made by clipping: using the first part of the first word and the last part of the second word, and the second most common form is clipping and overlapping.
